Basement Build Out

We love a blank slate! Mr and Mrs approach both everyday life and hard earned leisure with gusto. Mrs is a powerful boss with a sweet country soul; Mr is a Sportsman, Nature Photographer, and Shed Hunter.

Before

Mr and Mrs were looking to completely transform their large basement space. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great. We loved the floors, but they have a distinct modern vibe. We wanted to completely transform the functionality of their layout by making slight adjustments to the existing floor plan. After an enormous amount of drywall demo, it was time for the build-back.

Renderings

Both enjoy weekends full of family, friends and fun. As their kids head off to school; we were asked to create a transitional space to be used for both Young and Adult Gatherings. Both Mr and Mrs were looking for a Luxurious, Modern Mountain Getaway… just down those stairs. They wanted a full bar experience. We knew we wanted to keep that amazing concrete floor.

Dekton Countertop

We were inspired by their existing treated concrete floor so we immediately thought of a Dekton by Cosentino Countertop called Radium to give the metallic treatment purpose and bring it to life.

Cabinets

The Breeze by Woodharbor Knotty Alder Semi Custom Cabinet design compliments a set of existing cabinets in the living area which we wanted to save and repurpose. We also loved their existing decorative reclaimed wood accents so we removed them and reinstalled to compliment the new fieldstone bar walls and fireplace buildout to capture the Rustic Modern vibe of the space.

Copper, copper and more copper!!

We lined the Countertop Wall Cabinets with Copper, added a Copper Sink, Oil Rubbed Bronze Barrel Pulls and Black Industrial Plumbing Fixtures.

Signage

We supported Mrs as she selected their Accent Lighting, Bar Signage and Accessories…not to mention wine storage.

Forman Sign

The best way to make your bar your own? Family Branding. Give it a name, and bring in a custom sign.

Modern Mountain

To keep the design leaning towards Modern Side of Mountain, we chose contemporary furniture, electric fireplace and custom barn doors. Mustn’t forget a set of saloons! And Mr burned wood for a Shou Sugi Ban accent wall in his office.

The Result

We built out a hallway to create privacy for the water closet and created accent walls to hide the support poles. We hid gun storage and created a pipe display for their extensive antler collection. We kept the existing plumbing fixtures in the bathroom, and we were able to clad an accent wall with the reclaimed wood left over from where we built in the new fireplace. It feels like we’re missing something….oh yeah, a Big Buck Hunter stand up arcade game in the new Water Closet Cove!! Boom!
