The Concept for the Design of the Euro Moderne Kitchen starts with the Mural titled Pile by Digital Art Pioneer Steve Sherrell; the imagery is of rectangular blocks that have fallen into a pile. Our thought is to create a tight, clean, structured Working Space to counterbalance the fallen blocks in the mural. To provide complexity and interest to the workspace, we wanted matte finishes with lots of texture. We coupled Vertical Straight Stack Handmade in California Fireclay Black Hills Crackled and Matte Glazed Tile. We landed on Cambria Blackpool Matte 2CM Countertops and Backsplash. The Cabinets are Woodharbor Custom Cabinetry, Made in Iowa, Frameless with Maple Interior in Americano Stained, Plain Sawn Red Oak, Flat Panel Monterey Door to showcase running Vertical Grain from panel to panel. To further play on the pile, we chose this gorgeous Artistic Tile Handmade in Italy Terrazzo which is made from broken bits of Black, Green, White and Coral Italian Marble. The Mar Table is by Tomaz Viana of Porto, Portugal. The Iconic Oleander Chairs in Venice Hemp are Made in Italy by Calligaris.
Steve Sherrell is an analog and digital artist who comes from Chicago Art Scene. He has been making digital art since 1991; a True Pioneer – pre-JPEG, pre-Photoshop. He started on an Amiga computer, and soon became famed in an elite digital art market. He has made thousands of digital art pieces over the last three decades; Steve taught Photoshop and Computer Art at the collegiate level for 25 years. Tomaz Viana is a craftsman from Porto, Portugal. He sources local materials and mills each piece to create heirloom quality furniture. Tomaz is an expert woodworker who uses planer and laith to finish his creations – no sandpaper! His joinery is unique and centuries tried and true to take this very special table into future generations.
